Tehran, YJC. Deputy Culture Minister of Film has said that during his office the Iranian cinema has risen to an international level.
The Deputy Culture Minister
of Film appeared on the cinema-specific talk show "Haft” on Saturday evening to
review his activities during the 10th presidential administration.
Javad Shamaqdari made
reference to the job positions created and the increase in the productions
during his office and said "The Fajr Film Festival used to be at the level of a
film week. But in the past few years it has gained status as much as Cannes and
Berlin festivals.”
Pointing to the quantity of
work done during his incumbency he stated "In the period before me there were
60 features produced each year, whereas the number is now 90 per year.”
"The Fajr Film Festival also
which used to be held much like film weeks is now held in a standard fashion
and at the level of prestigious festivals like those of Cannes and Berlin,” he
emphasized.
