Iran criticizes UNSC passive approach to Palestine, YemenTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -  “It is unfortunate that the UN Security Council is working passively on key issues, such as permanent occupation of Palestine or bombing Yemen,” he said in a UN Security Council general session on West Asia and Palestine.

He also condemned recent attempts by Israel and the US to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as ‘capital’ of Zionist regime.

Growing settlements activities by Israel are not only violation of the 4th Geneva Convention but also are regarded as war crime, Al-Habib said.

“Destructive role of the US, especially in the Middle East cannot be denied and the US has never acted as an honest partner for peace and justice in the issue of Palestine.”

He said the bombing Yemen has caused famine, disease and destruction in the country, adding passive approach of the UN Security Council to this issue is the direct result of US obstruction in the council.

The Iranian envoy referred to US and Israeli attempts to divert the focus of discussions on West Asia in the UN Security Council, and said, “Iranophobia has turned out to be a psychic madness for these two regimes.”

Those fueling Iranophobia are after buying ‘beautiful weapons’ of the US with their dollars and their accusations against Iran have nothing to do with peace and security in West Asia, he said.
