Hashemi calls for North-South Koreas relations

Tehran, YJC. In meeting with Kim Yong-nam, Hashemi has stressed strengthening ties between the two Koreas.

The Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran in meeting with the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea pointed to his visit to the North Korea and meeting with the former leader of the country and visits to historical and military sites and said "Your young leader also can work toward stronger sympathy between the two Korean nations.”

Ayatollah Hashemi provided comments on the history of Tehran-Pyongyang relations in the years following the Islamic Revolution and said "The two countries’ officials have always stressed relationships due to the heart-felt will of the two nations. I hope that in the new era these relations strengthen.”

Kim Yong-nam also mentioned Ayatollah Rafsanjani as the founder of Iran-N. Korea relations and conveyed the regards of the new leader and the people of his country to the Ayatollah.

"Since your historic visit, the officials of the two countries have always preserved the relations,” he maintained.

He provided a report on internal affairs and nuclear activities of his country and added "Iran and North Korea have showed the world that one must not back down before the enemies’ threats.”
