TEHRAN, January 22 - Iran has exported over 160 tons of saffron to various countries over first 9 months of the Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2017 – December 21, 2017).
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The exports have increased by 33.33 percent and 26.05 percent respectively in terms of weight and value comparing to similar period in the year before.
The UAE, Hong Kong, Spain, Afghanistan and China are seen in top of the list of buyers.
The exports worth $219.270 million sent to 56 countries.
Latvia, Austria, Jordan, Spain, Australia, Slovakia, South Africa, Afghanistan, Algeria, Germany, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, USA, Italy, Bahrain, Brazil, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Pakistan, Taiwan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Czech Republic , Republic of Korea, China, Denmark, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, Iraq, Oman, France, Finland, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Canada, Kuwait, Georgia, Lebanon, Poland, Madagascar, Malta, Malaysia, Hungary, Morocco, Mauritius, Norway, New Zealand, Vietnam, Netherlands, India, Hong Kong and Greece have been Iran’s customers for saffron.
The UAE has received 23 tons, Hong Kong 15 tons, Spain 14 tons, Afghanistan 5 tons and China 4 tons of the product.
These four countries have bought 78 percent of Iran’s saffron overall.
