TEHRAN, January 21 - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nichervan Barzani, heading a high profile delegation, entered Iran on Saturday and met with the country’s Secretary General of National Security Supreme Council Ali Shamkhani in order for discussing the recent developments in the region as well as Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Pointing out to the historical relations between Iran and Iraq’s people specially the Kurdish province of Iraq, Shamkhani noted that despite the the sedition of the enemies of the two countries, the cooperation eras between the two countries are expanding.
“That some of the counter-Revolution groups use the Kurdish territories to assassinate our soldiers and citizens and return to the areas dominated by [Kurdistan] Region, and then, interviewing Kurdish media, recklessly claim the responsibility [of their terrorist act], is by no way tolerable” the Iranian top official stressed.
Referring to the Kurdish secessionist referendum which imposed heavy economical, political, and security costs upon the people of Iraq’s Kurdistan as well as the neighboring countries, Shamkani said “some imagined that the security of the Kurdish people was separate from other citizens in Iraq as well as the region, and there was the possibility of managing the threat of ISIS and terrorism through negotiation and interaction”.
“Given the new policies of Erbil and focusing on dialogue and cooperation with Baghdad, the Islamic Republic of Iran will use all its capabilities to support the resolution of the obstacles ahead and contribute to the success of this process” Shamkani said.
Presenting a report of the recent developments in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Nichervan Barzani also for his part appreciated Iran’s supporting Iraqi Kurdish people and stressed that the relations between Iran and Iraq are of civilized and historical ties.
“The expansion of the relations and collaborations between Iran and Kurdistan Region will not be influenced by the efforts of malice wrongdoers, and we will use all of our power to stop security threats against Iran” the Kurdish official said referring to Iran’s significant support of the security of Iraqi Kurdistan Region when Daesh terrorists attacked to the Region.
