TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - During his stay in Germany on January 18 and 19, Araqchi had a meeting with State Secretary of Germany’s Federal Foreign Office Walter Lindner, in which the two diplomats discussed the bilateral, regional and international issues.

They also discussed the latest developments surrounding the JCPOA, and stressed the need for protecting the nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Araqchi also had a get-together with State Secretary at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy Matthias Machnig for talks on Tehran-Berlin economic and trade ties.

The Iranian diplomat also explicated Tehran’s regional and international policies in an address to the Korber Foundation, a nonprofit organization discussing political topics and developing operational projects on social and political issues.

Diplomatic relations between Iran and European countries have improved greatly since the JCPOA came into force in January 2016.

In June 2017, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif paid a visit to Berlin and held talks with senior German officials on bilateral relations and regional and international developments.
