Tehran, YJC. Rahim-Safavi has said that much US hostility with Iran is planned by the UK.
Speaking in a TV program on Iran-US relations, Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi said "The US and the Zionist are two great enemies to Iran. Of course the Israeli and the British are much more wicked and on many occasions the British guide Americans.”
Pointing to Middle East developments, the consultant to the Supreme Leader said "The region has been in the hand of the British through history. They act very sophisticatedly. Sometimes they take the American rationality in their hand. Americans are powerful, have strong economic and military powers … and I think that as long as they do not pledge that they are not after overthrowing the Iranian system and as long as they have not removed the sanctions, we cannot settle things with them. The only way is that they accept Iran’s conditions and the two sides accept each other as two independent countries.”
"Of course the foreign policy is in the hands of the Supreme Leader and we as military members must not enter foreign policy affairs, but under current situations and as long as Americans do not end their enmity to Iran, we cannot talk of relations with the US. I believe that the sanctions are a hidden war. Through sanctions they had put their boots at our nation’s throat. On the other side we must have the Libya experience before our eyes. In Afghanistan we kind of cooperated with the US but they did not give us any advantage. Experience has shown that Americans are not square with the Islamic Revolution. Meanwhile I do not think that the US would repeat the case of Afghanistan and Iraq with Iran. The Islamic Republic is strong enough to answer any kind of military threat with greater force. I am sure that neither Americans nor Zionists will be able to make a military threat against us.”
