TEHRAN,YJC. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has honored the celebrated actor Jamshid Mashayekhi with the First Grade Order of Art and Culture.
Jamshid Mashayekhi, one of the country's most celebrated and favored celebrities in cinema, is awarded the Order of Art and Culture by the President.
The mandate written by the President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reads "In appreciation of your merit and the efforts you have made in the elevation of the nation’s art and your long service to the Islamic Republic of Iran, you are hereby honored with the First Grade Order of Art and Culture," Mehr News Agency reports.
Mashayekhi, 79, has played in over 70 movies and popular TV series.
He made his debut in "Brick and Mirror” directed by Ebrahim Golsestan (1965). He also starred in Dariush Mehrjuii’s acclaimed film "The Cow” (1969) and "Qaisar” by Masud Kimiaee (1969).
He received a best performance award for The Grandfather (1985, Majid Gharizadeh) from the First Festival of Non-aligned Countries in North Korea.
He also played memorable roles in the popular TV series "Kamalolmolk” (1983) and "Hezar Dastan” (1987) directed by Ali Hatami.
