TEHRAN, January 10 - In the wake of tensions in Islamabad-Washington ties, Pakistan formally suspended its defense-intelligence cooperation with US.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Pakistan's Interior Minister Khorram Dastgir Khan has officially announced that both defense and intelligence cooperation between Washington and Islamabad has been suspended.
Yet, the Mnister did not specified how long the suspension of defense and intelligence cooperation will take.
Formerly, the Pakistani FM Khahje Mohammad Asef also had declared that the US-Pakistan alliance is finished as US suspended its supports to the Asian country.
Confessing that Pakistan’s accompanying US in Afghanistan war was the biggest mistake Pakistan ever made, Asef asserted that Pakistan’s participating in Afghanistan war led to the creation of terrorism in Pakistan and consequently victimization of those fighting it, yet US did not appreciate that.
“US is after placing the burden of its defeat in Afghanistan war on Pakistan’s back”, Khaje Asef stressed.
Last Thursday, US formally suspended its 225m$ financial support to Pakistan.
US officials claimed that as long as Islamabad does not seriously confront Taliban and Haghani network, the supports will still be kept suspended.
