EHRAN, January 9 - Iran, European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini and foreign ministers of Iran, Britain, France and Germany are scheduled to meet on Thursday in the Belgian capital of Brussels to discuss the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

TIran, EU, E3 due to discuss JCPOA in Brussels ThursdayTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - "The EU High Representative Federica Mogherini will convene a meeting with ministers of foreign affairs of E3 countries -- France, Jean-Yves Le Drian, Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, and the UK Boris Johnson -- and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on Thursday, 11 January, in Brussels," according to a statement by the EU released late on Monday.

It added, "The meeting will take place in the context of the ongoing work to ensure a full and continued implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)”.

The statement came after the Iranian foreign minister early on Monday said that the country has proposed the idea of a meeting with Britain, France and Germany to discuss the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and recent US attempts to ruin the multilateral nuclear agreement.

Tehran has rejected media reports linking the upcoming meeting between Iranian and EU officials to recent riots in Iran.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as E3+3) reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA in July 2015 and implemented it in January 2016.

Under the agreement, certain limits have been put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all nuclear-related bans against Tehran.

In all of its reports since coming into force of the JCPOA, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has verified the non-diversion of declared nuclear material in Iran as well as the Islamic Republic’s commitment to the nuclear deal.
