Tehran, YJC. Foreign Ministry has given details on the entities invited to the Rouhani inauguration.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran
has given details on the invitations for foreign figures to the Rouhani inauguration.
Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs said in an interview with YJC that foreign officials are being invited
to the ceremony for Rouhani's swear-in.
"More than 40 countries will attend the inauguration of Dr. Rouhani.
The invitations sent have to do with the heads of states,” Araqchi pointed out.
He added "Some countries said that they will attend the inauguration
at the special envoy level, but regrettably we had to say that there are
procedural limitations.”
"We focused on regional and neighbor countries, where there
was a good favor as well. More than 40 countries will attend in rankings of
minister and above. As for the countries with lower ranks we have apologized
for space and facility issues,” Araqchi continued.
He also said that foreign Ambassadors to Tehran as well will
attend the ceremony.
Providing comments on the attendance of Jack Straw in the inauguration
ceremony, Araqchi said "We invited official figures for the inauguration
ceremony. Some unofficial or former officials from diverse countries have also
expressed willingness. There were some investigations where it was decided that
some of these people may be invited, but circumstances were not established and
they will not be attending the occasion.”
