TEHRAN, January 6 - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said that holding a UN Security Council meeting on Iran was ‘another blunder’ for Trump’s foreign policy.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - He said that the council rejected US’s efforts to deviate the meeting.
He made the remarks after a meeting held in the UN Security Council, over recent protests in Iran, and was demanded by the US.
“The UNSC rebuffed the US naked attempt to hijack its mandate. Majority emphasized to fully implement the JCPOA and to refrain from interfering in internal affairs of others. another FP blunder for Trump administration, he wrote in his official tweeter account.
The meeting faced Russian opposition. Most countries taking part in the meeting said that Iran’s situation is normal and the protests are Iran’s internal issue.
They stressed that the UNSC should instead focus on key issues, including fight against terrorism, peace in the Middle East and settling Syrian crisis.
