Tehran, YJC. Shohani says that by avoiding a coalition between the EU and US, Iran could have managed the sanctions.

Ahmad Shohani, member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis, in an interview with Mehr News Agency praising the Ahmadinejad administration for its resistance against world arrogance as the core of its foreign policy and said "The resistance which we showed on many issues, including the nuclear case, have become an example for the world.”

He added "The government could have managed situations in a way to prevent the EU and US from conjoining for sanctions against Iran.”

Shohani pointed out that in previous administrations there was a certain distance between the two blocs in their relations to Iran, adding "If we had prevented the EU and US to converge so much on issues related to Iran, we could have prevented the sanctions that have caused so many economic problems.”

Also pointing to the incumbent administration’s policies on Syria, he said "Positions in support of Syria were in unison with the system and satisfactory.”

Shohani’s assertion on Ahmadinejad’s performance on Syria comes despite Kosari, another lawmaker’s, who had said that Ahmadinejad appeared poorly on the issue.
