Tehran, YJC. The German Ambassador to Tehran has expressed optimism that in the Rouhani administration Tehran-Berlin relations will expand.

Germany’s
new Ambassador Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg presented his credentials
to the Foreign Minister Aliakbar Salehi on Monday.
In this
meeting Salehi pointing to favorable political relations between the two
countries said "The two great countries of Iran and Germany are natural
partners, enjoying great opportunities to expand relations evermore, especially
in economy and commerce.”
The
Foreign Minister pointed to Germany as an important country in Europe as well
as the world and hoped that with the new Iranian government, the West would
change its attitudes from one of distinction to that of cooperation and
agreement.
He added
"Iran is endowed with great capacities to cooperate with Europe, Germany on
particular, on diverse political, security, economic, and commercial grounds.”
Ungern-Sternberg
also hoped in turn that with the Rouhani administration, economic cooperation
between the two countries will expand.
