Tehran, YJC. The Supreme Leader has said that he does not favor talks with the US because Americans cannot be trusted.
Ayatollah Khamenei speaking to a number of officials on Sunday said "The American are untrustworthy and irrational, and are not honest when they meet someone.”
He added "The US official’s policies within the past few months once again emphasized the necessity to distrust them.”
"We do, and have always done, believe in interaction with the world; but the important point in interaction with the world is to know the other party and to have a clear understanding of his goals and ploys, because if we do not, we will be knocked down,” he asserted.
Ayatollah Khamenei further said "While interacting with the world, we must not overlook the operations of our enemies, even if expediency keeps us from telling it to their faces.”
"The art of interaction with the world is to be able to go your way without the other party being able to stop you. If interaction with the world ends in a reversal of the path then it is a detriment,” he went on.
The
Supreme Leader also pointed to regional concerns and asserted that statesmen need
to take them seriously.
