TEHRAN, December 21 - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi who is in Paris for talks with French officials said the country would not negotiate about its defense systems.

Iran’s Deputy FM reiterates defense system non-negotiableTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “National security is the most important issue for us and there is no place for talks or discussion about it,” he said.

Iran and France held the 4th round of political talks in Paris where they discussed various issues, including bilateral ties in economic, cultural and political fields as well as regional matters.

“Concerns about regional issues are natural and accordingly we outline our country’s positions. However, the issue of defense weapons, missile and defense programs are not negotiable at all. We said it to French officials openly,” he said.

The political talks are held in Tehran or Paris every 6 months.

“Positions of Iran and France are quite close as to the nuclear deal,” he said.

“We have also had good discussions on the nature of the JCPOA. We outlined Iran’s regional policies and it was a useful session overall.”
