Tehran, YJC. Foreign Ministry says that sides must attend the nuclear negotiations with good will and that Iran is willing to resume relations with the UK.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Spokesman Abbas Araqchi said in response to UK Secretary of State for
Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs William Hague regarding the country’s willingness
to improve relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran "As the President-elect
stated, the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to expand relations with
all EU countries, the UK included, based on mutual respect. The President-elect
has stressed constructive cooperation with the world from an equal stand and
based on mutual interests and respect as well as reconciliation and mutual
trust.”
He added "Accordingly, the Islamic
Republic of Iran will answer constructive, well-intended steps with like
manners.”
Araqchi also pointed to
Ashton’s recent meeting with the Six Powers and said "The Islamic Republic deeply
believes that understanding can come about only through sincere talks which are
based on goodwill as well as a dialogic, cooperative outlook and that sanctions
have proven ineffective.”
He stressed Iran’s adherence
to international conventions in preserving security over diplomatic personnel
in embassies and said "Iran enjoys complete security for the activities of
foreign embassies and their diplomatic personnel and will always be responsible
in its duties and commitments.”
