TEHRAN, December 9 - Lebanon's Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said on Saturday that Arab nations should consider imposing economic sanctions against the United States to prevent it moving its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem al-Quds.

Arabs should consider economic sanctions on U.S. over Jerusalem: LebanonTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - "Pre-emptive measures (must be) taken against the decision ... beginning with diplomatic measures, then political, then economic and financial sanctions," Bassil said at a meeting of foreign ministers at the Arab League in Cairo.

He said on Wednesday that Washington formally recognized Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel and would begin the process of moving its embassy to the occupied city, breaking with decades of American policy, Reuters quoted him as saying.

Trump's declaration has sent shock waves throughout the Muslim world, and even prompted warnings from Washington’s allies in the West that it would bring more chaos to the region.

The Iranian Army on Friday denounced the recent "foolish" US move and said the United States and Israel were responsible for escalating tensions in the Middle East.
