TEHRAN, December 3 - Iran A freestyle wrestling squad managed to overcome Russian rivals to win the title at the International Junior Tournament, entitled ‘Martyrs Cup’.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The International Junior Free Style and Greco-Roman Tournament, entitled ‘Martyrs Cup’, took place on November 27-28 in the Iranian city of Karaj.
A total of nine foreign and four domestic teams had taken part at the international event. At the end of the two-day event, Iran A outfit subdued the Russian team and stood on top of the podium.
The third to fifth places were occupied by wrestlers from Armenia, Mongolia and Azerbaijan Republic.
Earlier, Iran A team had also won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman division of Martyrs Cup again after quelling opponents from Russia.
The Tournament was organized under the UWW Regulations on 3 UWW approved mats in eight weight categories.
