Tehran, YJC. Activist says that in the recent elections Ahmadinejad worked in a way to lay the ground for his return to power.

Speaking in an interview with Mehr News Agency, Abbas Salimi Namin said that Ahmadinejad was actually a help to the victory of Hassan Rouhani, hoping to be able to get to power again later.

He said "Besides slanders, Ahmadinejad did something which is very important. Towards the elections, the Ahmadinejad circle threw itself into a system which would polarize the country. Naturally he needed to embolden the escape from a certain entity so that the country would abandon someone and go towards the opposite side. The government decided to render such a polarization with Mr. Hashemi, but before that it needed to boost things around the ‘no’ to Ahmadinejad.”

Salami Namin then pointed to the inflation rates a in the days leading to the election and said "Some see it as Ahmadinejad intending to put the anti-governmental ‘no’ in the service of the current that would oppose the Principalist side, where this ‘no’ to Ahmadinejad would rise the desire for change. By slandering the first Principalist candidate, Qalibaf, and relating the second Principalist candidate , Jalili, to himself, Ahmadinejad defaced the Principalist candidate. This made society look for the Principalists' rival.”

Not only were there problems between Ahmadinejad and the Principalists, but they would turn frequently into enmity. Ahmadinejad would see Principalism as his number one threat. Ahmadinejad had turned into an autocrat, and what can be the most dangerous threat to such autocracy is Principalism.”
