TEHRAN, November 29 - Iran’s High Council for Human Rights issued a statement, condemning murder of an Iranian man by US police officer.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - An Iranian man Bijan Gheisar died in hospital after US officer shot him in head three times in Virginia while he was not carrying any gun.
“The US administration should be held accountable for this crime,” the statement read.
The council is going to send a letter to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and UN human rights high commissioner Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein to pursue such clear violation of human rights and deliver a report about it.
The council would also call on Swiss embassy in Tehran to inform the US administration of Iran’s concern and protest to shocking murder of this Iranian man.
The Iranian man has been working as an accountant in his father’s office and was not armed at the time of murder by the officer.
The council urged trial and punishment of the police officer.
