Tehran, YJC. The Majlis has said that it will hold an emergency meeting with the Oil Ministry to discuss the reasons for importing oil rigs from China.
Hossein Amiri Khamakani, Spokesman
of the Energy Committee of the Majlis, said "Regarding the country’s abilities
to construct oil rigs in competition with other countries, the Oil Ministry is
obliged to provide explanations why it would not support national production and
rather import goods from China.”
He added that an emergency session must held with the Oil Minister, members of the Majlis Energy Committee, and the National Production Usage workgroup, in which the reasons for issuing permits to import Chinese oil rigs are required.
Amiri Khamakani asserted that due to the country’s policy to support domestic products, the Majlis emphasizes ways to support national products currently more than previous terms.
