Iran deplores UN human rights resolution as 'politically-tainted'

TEHRAN, November 16 - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi deplored the recent human rights resolution against the country.

Iran deplores UN human rights resolution 'politically-tainted'TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “Support of a number of biggest violators of human rights, war criminals and main supporters of terrorism for the resolution is only one of the reasons that have discredied it,” he said.

He said that the resolution submitted in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly by the US and certain western countries is a ‘rejected and unacceptable’.

“Instrumental, selective and political use of the human rights by western countries against independent countries is a false move which will only lead to weakening the high status of human rights.”

Iran is a ruling system based on religious democracy which has always sought to promote human rights and seriously fulfill its international commitments, the spokesperson stressed.

“Iran is ready to seriously establish dialogue and constructive cooperation with any other side interested in promoting human rights based on its supreme values and the principle of mutual respect, justice and fairness and far from political manipulations within all the legal international mechanisms,” he concluded.
