Tehran, YJC. Javier Solana has made a soft criticism of the US for saying it will not assume responsibility in favor of any group in Egypt.

Former Secretary General of the Council of the European Union Javier Solana said on Twitter today "At least should be aligned with a solución "US 'not aligned' with any party in Egypt transition: Obama”, criticizing the US for not adopting a clear position on the Egyptian developments.

The United States is "not aligned with any political party or group in Egypt following the ouster of Islamist leader Mohamed Morsi.” President Barack Obama had said Saturday.

According to a White House statement, Obama had said "The United States categorically rejects the false claims propagated by some in Egypt that we are working with specific political parties or movements to dictate how Egypt's transition should proceed.”

"We remain committed to the Egyptian people and their aspirations for democracy, economy opportunity, and dignity. But the future path of Egypt can only be determined by the Egyptian people," he had further noted.
