Tehran, YJC. Rouhani has met with prominent religious references of Qom to discuss administrational concerns.
Mehr News Agency reports that the President-elect Hassan Rouhani
visited the city of Qom to meet with a number of prominent clergymen on Thursday.
Upon entering the religious city of Qom, Rouhani first
attended a ceremonial dusting of the holy shrine of Masoumeh.
Rouhani then met with Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpaigani.
The President-elect also paid visit to Ayatollah Makarem
Shirazi.
In his meetings, Rouhani
stressed the need for the government to strengthen bonds with the clergy.
He deemed it necessary for the government in pursuing its
duties to enjoy the clergy’s support and said "We will be constantly in contact
with religious seminaries and the Marjas in order to be able to use their
opinions in an ideal way.”
Rouhani is also to meet Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani and a
number of other clergy members while in Qom.
This is Rouhani's first visit to the ayatollahs after his
election.
