Soltaniyeh: Agency must do its duties in fighting sabotage, cyber attack

Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Ambassador to the IAEA has said that Iran expects the agency to help protect the country’s atomic facilities against sabotage and cyber attack.

Aliasqar Soltaniyeh, Iran’s Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency said "Industrial sabotage in nuclear facilities is a serious threat to nuclear security. The protection of nuclear facilities and used or stored substances demands a more active role by the Agency.”

Speaking in the International Conference on Nuclear Security in Vienna, Soltaniyeh stressed the need for safeguarding the Agency members’ secret information, the containment of cyber attacks on the member countries’ nuclear facilities, the prevention of sabotage to nuclear facilities and substances used or stored, as well as fighting armed attacks on nuclear facilities.

He also pointed out the importance of radioactive sources, the illegal trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive substances.
