Iran, Switzerland stress widening cooperation in human rights, judicial fieldsTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a meeting between new Swiss Ambassador to Iran Markus Leitner and Deputy Secretary General of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights and Judicial Cooperation Kazem Gharib-Abadi, the two sides emphasized developing mutual cooperation in judicial and human rights sphers.

Iran and Switzerland have already held 7 rounds of talks on human rights matters.

During the meeting, Gharib-Abadi said exchanging views and experiences on technical issues is the most important factor for effectiveness of the talks.

He also said that appointing a special UN human rights rapporteur for Iran is a completely ‘politically motivated and destructive move’.

The Iranian official stressed avoiding double standards on human rights issues.

Markus Leitner, for his part, pointed to Iran-Switzerland satisfactory ties, and said, “We welcome the opportunity of using experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various human rights and judicial fields.”
