TEHRAN, November 1 - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Iran and Azerbaijan are resolute to expand bilateral ties in all fields.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev is in Iran for Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral conference.
‘Tehran-Baku relations are example for multilateral and regional ties,” he said in a meeting with Aliyev here in Tehran.
He also stressed using potential and capability of the two countries to meet their needs.
Rouhani further said that Iran is ready to expand bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan in industrial fields, agriculture, energy swap and oil exploration in Caspian Sea.
He also said establishing Rasht-Astara railroad as Iran-Azerbaijan joint railroad could be an important step in developing bilateral transit cooperation in North-South corridor, adding the transit line could be used for goods transfer from Oman Sea and Persian Gulf to Caucasus and eastern Europe.
Aliyev, for his part, said relations and cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan are going well.
“Expanding trilateral ties will be in favor of development, stability and expanding trilateral cooperation in transportation and North-South corridor. It will yield good results.”
He said that the two sides have reached an agreement on establishing Rasht-Astara railroad. “Iran-Azerbaijan cooperation in railroad and transit could be turned into extensive international cooperation.”
