TEHRAN, October 31 -Russia's Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation CEO Alexei Likhachev said the company is ready to promote Iranian nuclear power plants to 1200 MW ones.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “Rosatom is ready to promote Iranian nuclear power plants to 1200 MW ones in upcoming contracts in case Iran is willing too,” he said in a press conference with Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali-Akbar Salehi in Tehran on Tuesday .
Iran and Russia have agreed to build up to 8 power plant units and each of these units could reach 1200 MW power, he said.
Iran’s nuclear-produced electricity could reach 10.000 MW in case the overall MoU is implemented by the two sides.
He noted that nuclear power plants can be used by 100 years and “We should predict the landscape of cooperation for the same period.”
The Russian official also called for boosting bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia in medical, agricultural and nuclear fields and sweetening sea water.
“Rosatom is ready to work with Iran in building non-nuclear power plants. We could turn Bushehr power plant into a center of expanding nuclear technology in the region in case Iran is ready too.”
