TEHRAN, October 31 -Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov discussed Tehran-Moscow cooperation to advance talks on Syrian underway in Astana, al-Manar reported.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Lavrov has also had a separate phone call with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on Syria.
Zarif and Lavrov stressed further bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia to settle Syrian crisis through political means.
Russian Foreign Ministry has said that Lavrov and Cavusoglu conferred on recent developments in Syria under the framework of Astana talks underway in Kazakhstan.
Iranian, Russian and Turkish officials are taking part in the conference.
A new round of Syria peace talks brokered by Iran, Russia, and Turkey begun in Kazakhstan’s capital of Astana on Monday.
It is the seventh round of talks in what is referred to as the Astana peace process for Syria.
Delegations from the Syrian government and armed opposition groups as well as the three guarantor states have taken part in the talks along with representatives from the United Nations, Jordan, and the United States, according to reports.
The Iranian delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari, arrived in the Kazakh capital on Sunday.
Expert-level talks began that same day, and the high-level talks will continue until Tuesday.
Syria has been beset by conflict since March 2011.
