TEHRAN, October 29 - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s nominees for the two remaining cabinet posts were approved by the country’s parliament.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The parliament on Sunday afternoon ended debates on the credentials and backgrounds of Reza Ardakanian and Mansour Gholami, who had been nominated for the positions of the energy minister and the minister of science, research, and technology, respectively.
Ardakanian made it to the cabinet with 255 votes cast in his favor, 38 votes against him and 13 abstentions.
On August 20, all the ministerial nominees, except the one for the Energy Ministry, managed to win the vote of confidence from the parliament.
Habibollah Bitaraf failed to win a vote of confidence after 133 lawmakers from a total of 288 opposed him.
The position of minister of sciences, research, and technology had also been vacant.
On Sunday, Gholami was chosen the science minister after he won the parliament’s confidence vote with 180 votes in favor, 82 against and 14 abstentions, Tasnim reported.
Rouhani won a second term in the presidential election in May by securing an absolute majority of the votes.
