TEHRAN, October 29 - Women's Deputy Minister of Sport, Fariba Mohammadia said positive measures were being taking to pave the path for presence of Iranian women at stadiums.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Dr. Fariba Mohammadian, Ministry of Sports Vice-Chancellor for Women, made the remarks while visiting the pavilion of Mehr News Agency at the venue of the 23rd edition of Tehran Press Exhibition currently underway in Grand Musalla of Tehran.
Referring to performance of Women’s Department at the Iranian Ministry of Sports, the official said efforts have been made to boost share of women in championships as well as to increase their presence in public and popular sports.
Deputy sports minister went on to note that “we are trying to advance the country’s National Vision in accordance with guidelines of the Leader and the President. In the same vein, the most important issue is to create jobs for women through sportive activities and their presence at social events. These issues are being specifically worked on and addressed.”
In response to a question regarding activities of the Ministry in the debate about women’s entry to stadiums, Mohammadian said “several meetings have been held on the issue which have led to great results; “I think we will soon achieve the goal by continuation of the same trend.”
She went on to explain that “the main issue at stake is not for Iranian women to make physical presence in the stadiums; rather, we must know initial capacities properly, and in the same direction, offer necessary education to the society so that our women appear in sport spaces in full strength and encourage national teams.”
