TEHRAN, October 26 - Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Ali-Asghar Monesan said that Iran can raise handicrafts exports to $2 billion a year.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - He added that Iran’s handicrafts exports reached $240 million over last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2017) but the figure could rise to $2 billion through global marketing, branding and design.
He further said that 4.900 million foreigners visiting Iran, adding the figure should reach 20 million people in the 6th development plan.
Traditional ceramics, pottery, handwoven cloths as well as precious and semi-precious gemstones were amongst the most handicrafts exported.
Iraq, Afghanistan and Germany were the main importers of Iranian handicrafts.
