Tehran, YJC. Actor says that artists need to do as they like.

Speaking in a meeting titled "Thanking Aref, Supporting Rouhani” in Espinas Hotel on Monday evening, Behzad Farahani said "We artists have a request of politicians. We want them to let us live our lives as we are not allowed to criticize statesmen.”

He asserted "Mr. Rouhani owes us nothing, but we are the pupils of no less precious and wise a man than Dr. Seyyed Mohammad Khatami.”

Farahani asserted that no social stratum is harmed as much as artists, adding "The age for censorship is over. This anti-Constitutional phenomenon, censorship, must be eradicated. Censorship does not even spare Ferdowsi and Sadi, who are the masters of our literature.”

He complained that under current situations he is allowed to make plays only every 5 years and added "I ask Messrs. Rouhani and Khatami that if they are going to appoint a director for us, they choose someone from our nature and from our clan.”

He also said that in the present society of Iran artists lack job security, asserting "There must not be so much restriction on artistic activities while we observe redlines ourselves.”
