TEHRAN, October 17 - Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habiollah Sayyari has traveled Italy at top of a delegation. He has been invited by his Italian counterpart.

Iranian navy commander in ItalyTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Sayyari is the special guest at the Venice Regional Seapower Symposium for the Navies of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Countries which started work in Italy on Tuesday.

This is the first visit of an Iranian senior military official due to invitation of a European country, after the Islamic Revolution.

The ill-advised words uttered by the US President Donald Trump during his recent anti-Iran speech cannot make any change in the Persian Gulf name, Sayyari said on Tuesday.

'Distortion of the name of the Persian Gulf by the US president is an indication of his ignorance about history,' he added upon arrival in the Italian capital.

'It would be so disgraceful if Trump's October 13 speech were the collection of his stances and strategies on which he had worked for months to take against Iran,' Sayyari stressed.

'Trump had better take a geography course, then talk as the president of a country,' Sayyari underlined.

About his travel to Italy, the Iranian Navy commander said that he is invited as a special guest to the Venice seapower symposium.

World countries, as Sayyari noted, attach great importance to Iran's experiences in establishment of security in the Gulf of Aden.

He went on to say that he will hold meetings with senior naval officials in Italy.

The meetings, he added, will focus on Iran's capabilities in ensuring security in the international waters.

The 11th Venice Regional Seapower Symposium for the Navies of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Countries with participation of navy commanders from 50 world countries lasts for four days.
