TEHRAN, September 22 - Iranian worshipers held rallies in several cities and Tehran to show wrath and protest over US President Donald Trump’s recent hostile remarks against Iran.

Iranian worshipers stage massive rallies, condemning Trump’s hostile speech in UNTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The rally was held after the Friday prayers during which the marchers chanted slogans such as “Down with the US” and “Down with Israel” and “Down with Britain.”

The protesters deplored Trump’s unfounded accusations against Iran during speech at the United Nations General Assembly, and stressing full support for Iranian government and the Islamic Revolution.

The demonstrators issued a statement, urging on all Muslims across the world to strengthen unity, confront divisive plots and prevent the killing of innocent people given the ongoing situation in the region and the Muslim world.

During his speech at the General Assembly on Tuesday, the US president accused Iran of engaging in “destabilizing activities” in the region.

He also claimed that Iran's "support for terror is in stark contrast to the recent commitments of many of its neighbors to fight terrorism and halt its financing.”

Trump also denounced the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries in 2015 as “embarrassment” that Washington may abandon.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China – plus Germany signed the nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015 and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.

Backed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231, the JCPOA is an international agreement, which makes it impossible for any party to the deal to withdraw from it.

Since Trump took office, the US has repeatedly threatened to abandon the agreement.
