TEHRAN, September 20 - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini conferred on implementing Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with P5+1 as they met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Conference in New York.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - During the meeting, Zarif and Mogherini studied the recent developments as to the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
Mogherini, for her part, stressed that the EU continues support for the deal.
The meeting was held after US President Donald Trump told the United Nations General Assembly that the nuclear agreement is an “embarrassment” to the United States.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached the 159-page nuclear agreement in July 2015 and implemented it in January 2016.
Since the historic deal was signed in Vienna, the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed the Islamic Republic’s compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA, but some other parties, especially the US, have failed to live up to their undertakings.
