TEHRAN, YJC. Mohsen Rezaei believes that economy is in an utterly worrying state and all must do their best to get rid of the country of a situation which can target people’s spirituality.

Mohsen Rezaei started his debate on the national TV on Wednesday with a word from prophet Mohammd, warning that it is about time that poverty lead to atheism.

Rezaei who was asked to present his plans on cultural issues believed that what influences the country’s culture most is economic issues and said that it is of high importance that the economic problems be regarded as critical and in need of emergency action.

He took a Rls10,000 bill out of his pocket and said "How can I ask you guys to please care for the economy? A Rls10,000 bill now is worth a Rls300 one last year. That means that we have to buy the thing we got Rls300 last year for Rls10,000 now. This may not sound important to the well-to-do but for most of the society it is shoking.”

Rezaei believed that sanctions from one hand and from the other, problems dating from earlier times are threatening society, adding "The Islamic Republic is in danger. People’s faith and religiosity is also in danger.”

"God knows that there were no feeling of threat I would not have run for presidency, but what could be done when things are so serous. Unemployment influences culture. It is similar to a warm surface which will evaporate all the snow that may fall on it.”
