TEHRAN, September 6 - Iranian President Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi said President Hassan Rouhani is going to visit Kazakhstan next week.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “President will visit Kazakhstan next week. Although, the time of his visit to South Africa is still unclear,” he told reporters after cabinet meeting.
He then added that he is making plans for Rouhani’s visit to New York for the UN General Assembly session late September.
Earlier in /March, High-ranking Iranian and Kazakh officials in a meeting in Astana conferred on the latest developments in bilateral ties and the region as well as the common dangers threatening the two countries.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour and his Kazakh counterpart Akylbek Kamaldinov discussed Iran-Kazakhstan ties, and ways to expand bilateral relations, while touching on the regional and international issues.
The two sides underlined speedy enforcement of the already reached agreements on exchange of visits by their nationals, including traders, economic activists and drivers, easing banking ties and supporting rights of their nationals as well as increasing the volume of their trade ties.
Rahimpour and Kamaldinov also conferred on the developments in Central Asia, Middle East, Afghanistan and the Caspian Sea, threats posed by extremism and terrorism, and underlined common stances and interests of the two countries.
They also emphasized expansion of ties at the regional levels, fighting common threats and raising efficiency of the regional structures.
In relevant remarks in December, Iranian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mojtaba Damirchilou underlined that Tehran and Astana are resolved to expand their economic relations.
"The recent visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was aimed at boosting the economic ties between Iran and Kazakhstan," the Iranian envoy told FNA.
He reiterated that the trade balance between Iran and Kazakhstan stood at $600 million over the past nine months.
"Iran and Kazakhstan have not used their capacities specially in economic fields despite having sufficient capacities," Damirchilou added.
Earlier in December, Rahimpour underlined that his country is resolved to expand mutual cooperation with the Central Asia countries.
"Bolstering ties with friendly countries in Central Asia tops Iran's foreign policy," Rahimpour told reporters after his meetings with Kyrgyz officials in Bishkek.
He, meantime, underlined the need for enhancing bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian states.
