TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Continuing with his visits of under-the-construction projects of navy factories and achievements in Bandar Abbas naval base on the Persian Gulf, Rear Admiral Sayyari inspected the construction process of the semi-heavy Fateh-class submarines and held talks with the staff in charge of maintenance and construction of surface and under-surface vessels. During the visits, Sayyari stressed the need for expediting the construction process of Fateh submarines.

Fateh (‘Conqueror’) is a domestically-manufactured submarine measuring between forty and forty-eight meters long with four bow torpedo tubes and access to six to eight reloads, with a circular sonar array situated under the tubes. Fateh is said to be able to operate up to two hundred meters below the surface and up to five weeks at sea at a range of up to 3,100 miles.

On August 29, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister for Parliamentarian Affairs, Reza Talaei Neek, said Fateh submarine would be soon deployed to Iran’s Navy.
