Tehran, YJC. Qalibaf has said that the US cannot much influence Iran with sanctions because there are many economic opportunities elsewhere.
Mohammadbaqer
Qalibaf appeared on the national TV on Saturday evening to answer Iranians living
abroad.
Qalibaf
said that what happens inside the country regarding sanctions is different from
abroad, adding "The sanctions are of little effect inside the country. Their effect
is less than what we suffer for managerial incompetence. The world is so big
and has so many economic opportunities that the US cannot mobilize it with a
one-sided series of sanctions.”
He added
"Of course things are different outside the country for the unjust and
illogical attitude that some countries have towards Iranians. Our people have
to face much inconvenience opening a bank account with the least amount of
money.”
Providing
comments on his programs in foreign policy, he said "Something that must be
kept in mind is that based on the constitution and the Islamic system the President
cannot have the final decision on foreign policy. Foreign policy is different from
diplomacy. It is a collection of roles played among others by other branches
and the Leader. Therefore, foreign policy does not change when the President is
changed, and that is something that does not belong solely to Iran.”
Qalibaf
further said "Relations are important today. Although we will not overlook it,
the US is not the whole world. We can create opportunities in relation with
other countries. We must prioritize public and economic diplomacy. We must
avoid adventurism and taxing the country excessively.”
He stressed the value of the nuclear energy as
the country’s incontrovertible right. Qalibaf stated that there is a political
nature to the nuclear case, believing that the negotiations must be continued
with more haste.
He added
"We must make a clear understanding of foreign affairs. Some issues are not
solved at the desk, but must be resolved in lobbies, so that we would be able
to get what we want at the desk.”
