Tehran, YJC. Candidate has said in answer to a question regarding Leader’s disapproval of uranium enrichment suspension in 2007 that the Leader has not challenged nuclear measures and that the claim is a lie.

Speaking in a news conference on Thursday, Hassan Rohani said in answer to a question stating that the suspension of enrichment went against the Supreme Leader’s will "The Leader did not challenge nuclear measures. This is a big lie. Everything was under his supervision. If things were to go according to the plan, revocation of the suspension would have had to be done by the following administration, but the Leader said to revoke the suspension without an agreement, which I did and the suspension was revoked with my orders following teh Supreme Leader’s demand.”

He asserted "The Supreme Leader, though, regarded suspension as a retreat, but he said that it was a tactical retreat and if one did not do it he would have committed treason.”

"The Leader’s words are clear. There are a number of people who would like to appeal to public emotions,” proclaimed Rohani.
