Iran to hold int'l economic conference on post-sanction era in Geneva

TEHRAN, August 21 - Iran is going to hold an international conference in Geneva on its economy over last 20 months since sanctions against the country have been lifted.

Iran to hold economic conference on post-sanction era in GenevaTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The conference is dubbed ‘Iran’s conference: 20 months after lifting international sanctions, overall view, landscapes and challenges’.

Economic activists are registered for the conference to be dispatched as a trade team led by Tehran Chamber of Commerce.

The conference is to focus on economic situation in Iran 20 months after lifting sanctions and implementing 2015 nuclear deal officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The conference is attended by foreign sides to discuss the process of cooperation development with Iran over the mentioned period to identify and remove weak points.

Last September on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly meeting in New York, Iranian and Swiss presidents agreed on a roadmap to reach closer bilateral ties.

“There are great potential for developing economic ties between Iran and Switzerland whose optimistic use of the potential needs activating banking ties,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said at that time.

The conference is scheduled for September 28.

The conference includes three specialized panels on trading and goods transfer, medical technology and health services, and financial and insurance risks.

Representatives of the companies would then hold direct talks.

Moreover, executive measures to avoid US sanctions are also investigated.

Senior Iranian and Swiss are going to discuss their landscape of Iranian market, investment opportunities, reforming financial systems and Iranian economy prospect.

Moreover, a delegation from Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mine and Agriculture is to visit Geneva on September 27-30.
