Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iran Minister of Science Mohammad Farhadi at the first round of women’s awards of science ceremony said “This festival was held by the advisory committee of women and family affairs and other scientific and technological organizations and will continue in the coming years.”
He described the goal of the festival to be the introduction of leading women scientists from different Universities and educational centers and said: “Thus, it is proposed that this event be held every year and it would be most best if it’s given a specified day on the academic calendar.”
Pointing out the large crowd who were present, the Minister of Science stated: “Overall, 60% of university entries are female, and 50% of all students from other education levels are also women.”
Referring to the fact that the boards of faculties of all universities are comprised of 17% female members, he said: “Researches in last three decades at Allameh Tabataba'i university show women have made huge leaps and that they’ve become more informed and endeavoring through the past 20 years.”
He also spoke of Prof. Maryam Mirzakhani’s accomplishments and the honor it is that she has become one of the top ten greatest minds of human history.
Maryam Mirzakhani was the first student to get a gold medal at Olympiads and was added to the top ten brilliant minds of history in 2005.
“Hopefully women’s affairs is getting enough attention and their endeavors in science are greater than ever since the past decade", Minister Farhadi concluded.
