TEHRAN, August 20 - Commander-in-Chef of Tehran Police Department speaks of Narcotic Police's recent accomplishments
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Head of Tehran police commander-in-chief Hossein Rahimi told reporters on Saturday at the Headquarters of Tehran's Counter Narcotics Police about an international drug trafficking organization that the Police had demolished, confiscating a total of 1600kgs of drugs. "A few days ago five members of the organization who smuggled drugs through the Sistan-Baluchistan border and cut through the desert to get them to Tehran were identified and arrested thanks to Counter-Narcotics Police’s intel sources", he said.
He added: Only one member remains at large due to being in exterritorial soil but measures towards his arrestment are underway.
Furthermore he stated: "Aside from wholesalers, drug distributing individuals are also of high priority and will be dealt with. In recent operations the Counter-Narcotics Police has arrested 200 individuals confiscating over 85kgs of drugs from in total."
Rahimi also told about arresting 2 individuals who attempted to sell Marijuana through social media.
The Tehran police commander-in-chief also reported on rounding up notorious addicts from the city, “I am hopeful that with the will and momentum the authorities carry, and their cooperation with police, gathering these people will not be too difficult.”
In recent operations over 60 bottles of alcoholic drinks, tens of kilos of Morphine and a number of cold weapons and firearms belonging to the smugglers were also confiscated.
