Tehran, YJC. Ayatollah Gheravian says that two clerical associations will consider popularity in their endorsement of a candidate from the Development Coalition.

In interview with Zendegi, Ayatollah Mohsen Gheravian provided comments on the position adopted by the two clerical bodies of the Combatant Clergy Association and Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom. "The two bodies will consider the public favor of the candidates,” he said, adding that the Supreme Leader’s guidelines will be the framework in supporting a special candidate.

He added that the two bodies will also consider various public opinion polls carried out.

The Ayatollah believed that the fact that all three members of the coalition were qualified by the Guardian Council indicates their legitimacy in adopting the highest administrative position of the country and added "To maintain their distinction, the two clerical bodies will consider the chances of the candidates to attract vote.”
