TEHRAN, July 26, YJC - France has raised doubts about the legitimacy of new US sanctions against Iran, Russia and North Korea, saying they do not conform with international law due to their extraterritorial reach.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - On Tuesday, the US House of Representatives voted to impose new sanctions against Iran, Russia and North Korea. The lower chamber of the US Congress voted 419 to 3 pass the sanctions package.

The bill includes sanctions against Iran and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) for allegedly supporting terrorism, which Tehran vehemently denies, and North Korea, for its missile tests.

The legislation also aims to punish Moscow for its alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election and the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation.

The European Union had warned Washington against the new bans, out of fear that they would adversely effect its new energy deals with Russia.
