TEHRAN, July 26, YJC - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi reiterated that the US has to abide by its commitments to the JCPOA.

Iran: US has to abide by nuclear deal commitmentsTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “The US has certain commitments to the JCPOA which needs to comply with them. Domestic rules and regulations of countries could not be a pretext to evade basic international responsibility of states,” he said.

He referred to the recent sanction bill against Iran approved by the US House of Representatives, calling it unlawful and insulting.

He also warned, “Approving such non-nuclear sanctions by the House of Representatives has ignored and will endanger successful implementation of the JCPOA which is a multilateral and international agreement and results of years of efforts.”

Qassemi said that other JCPOA sides are expected to fulfill their commitments to the nuclear deal as Iran has done so far and approved by the IAEA and P5+1 members.

He also said that the bill runs counter to the nuclear deal, and that Iran would take countermeasures in line with its national interests.

“The fundamental policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran as to the region includes fighting terrorism, good neighborliness and protecting collective security. Moreover, Iran’s missile program goes with Resolution 2231 and nothing can prevent Iran from pursuing and implementing its fundamental policy of strengthening its defense capability.”

“US House of Representatives is accusing Iran of destabilizing the region while played a role in establishing terrorist groups like Daesh by invading Iraq and increasing instability in the region and extremism which are all results of irresponsible policies of the US and its regional allies.”
