TEHRAN, July 24, YJC - Iranian Deputy Minister of Science for International Affairs Salar Amoli and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Head Shinichi Kitaoka discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in scientific fields.

Iran, Japan study boosting scientific tiesTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The two sides explored ways to grant scholarships, research opportunities and using Japanese Yen by JICA for providing laboratory labs in Iranian universities and research centers as they met in Tehran.

Last December, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Kentaro Sonoura in a meeting in Tokyo underlined the need for expanding all-out ties.

During the meeting in the Japanese capital, Zarif and Sonoura explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating mutual cooperation in political, economic and parliamentary fields.

The two sides also underlined the need for continuing consultations between Tehran and Tokyo in the fields of politics and economy.

Zarif and Sonoura, meantime, called for resolving regional crises through peaceful means.

The senior diplomats also reiterated boosting cooperation for more investment in Afghanistan to fight terrorism and restore stability to that country.
