Tehran, YJC. Lawmaker says that revenge may be one of Hashemi’s reasons to run for presidency after his defeat from Ahmadinejad in 2005.
Asked
what he thinks Hashemi’s reasons are for candidacy, Hojjatoleslam Salek said "One
reason is his objection to the Ahmadinejad administration. The second reason
might be a sort of vengeance.”
Regarding
Hashemi’s 2009 record, Salek said "When intelligence and security services say
something, it is based on documents they have. Therefore, Mr. Moslehi’s stance
on Hashemi and the sedition story must be based on documents.”
Asked
if he sees Hashemi as being used by the Reform movement to run for presidency,
he stated "Mr. Hashemi takes presence, as the saying goes, with an open mind,
and to put it another way, with a liberal mind. Therefore it is possible that
some may misuse him, or, let us say, his view of society around him is one of
support and caring. Therefore both the sedition entities used him and he
himself had relations as well. So, this is something that must be regarded in a
specific way.”
